What Happens When You Call

Here is how a first conversation usually goes, start to finish.

  1. 1

    Tell us what you have

Call and tell us who needs coverage and what you have now. Have your insurance card handy if you can. If you have no coverage, that is fine too.

  2. 2

    We review your coverage

We go through your plan line by line: deductible, out-of-pocket max, copays, network and which of your medications are on the plan's list. We note what is working and where you are paying for things you don't use.

  3. 3

    Plain findings

We tell you what we found. Keep it, adjust it, or look at something else. No pressure either way.

  4. 4

    Compare plans

If a change makes sense, we put options from several carriers side by side. You see premium, deductible and network for each one.

  5. 5

    Enrollment and follow-up

Once you choose, we help you enroll and make sure the first payment goes through. After that, we are a phone call away when questions come up.

Coverage We Help You Sort Out

Our agency is a licensed independent insurance agency. That means we can pull plans from several carriers and put them in front of you, instead of steering you toward one brand. We work on individual health insurance, family health insurance and ACA marketplace plans, plus dental insurance, vision insurance and accident insurance. Each one starts the same way: we look at your current coverage, your doctors and your budget before we suggest anything.

    Individual Health Insurance

Coverage for one person, picked after we check your doctors, medications and budget against plans from more than one carrier.

    Family Health Insurance

One plan for parents and kids, picked after we look at your doctors, your family's usual care and how the deductible really works.

  • ACA Marketplace Plans

Help picking a Marketplace plan that fits your income, doctors and medications, with your tax credit estimated before you enroll.

  • Dental Insurance

We look at your dentist, the work you expect and the fine print on waiting periods before we show you any dental plan.

  • Vision Insurance

Coverage for eye exams, glasses and contacts, matched to how often you actually use them and which eye doctor you want to keep.

  • Accident Insurance

A supplemental plan that pays you set cash amounts after a covered injury, checked first against the health plan and deductible you already have.

What Decides Your Premium

There's no one price for everybody. A few factors set your premium, and you can influence some of them. We go over each so the figures are clear before you choose.

Each quote is built on today's carrier rates where you live. You compare the actual numbers side by side and make the call, and our time costs you nothing.

Tobacco and age
Premiums rise with age because carriers price that way. Tobacco users often pay an added charge.
Tax credits and income
For ACA marketplace plans, your expected income this year determines whether a premium tax credit applies. That credit can lower your monthly cost sharply. We help you build a careful estimate so tax season brings no surprise.
Deductible and metal tier
Bronze pairs a smaller premium with a bigger deductible, while gold does the reverse. Which fits you depends on how often you need care and what you could afford out of pocket in a rough year.
Kind of network
HMO and EPO plans tend to be cheaper but limit you to a fixed list of doctors and hospitals. PPO plans allow more out-of-network care and usually cost more. We confirm your doctors are included before you decide.
Who the plan covers
Putting a spouse or kids on the plan changes the premium and can change the subsidy too. When it lowers the cost, family members can go on separate plans.

A Small Agency That Looks Before It Advises

Many people choose a health plan without reading it closely. They enroll online, learn their doctor is out of network, and live with it for a year. A look beforehand would have spotted the problem.

That's why we flip the order. We review your coverage, give you an honest account of what we find and only then talk about options. Sometimes our advice is to stay put. We'd rather earn your trust than sell you a plan you don't need.

Visit our office or meet with us by phone or video, whatever suits you best.

How We Do Things

Most of our clients bought their last plan from someone who never read what they already had. We do it the other way around.

We read your coverage before anything else
We start with your insurance card, your summary of benefits and the doctors you see. We check the deductible, the out-of-pocket maximum and the network. Only then do other plans come into it.
An honest answer
You get a short, honest read on your coverage. If keeping your plan is the smart move, we'll say so.
Options, not one pick
We put plans from several carriers side by side on one page, showing premium, deductible, copays and network, so you can compare the trade-offs yourself.
Nothing to pay us
The consultation is free. We're paid by the carrier you sign up with, so our review costs you nothing.
Help after you enroll
Problems can show up after enrollment. A claim gets denied, an ID card doesn't arrive, a doctor leaves the network. Call us and we'll sort it out with the carrier.

Common Questions

Do you charge for the consultation?

No. We're paid by the carrier you choose once you enroll, so our agency never bills you. The carrier sets your premium, and it isn't raised to pay for our time.

When am I able to enroll in a health plan?

For ACA marketplace plans, most enrollment happens during open enrollment, from late fall into January. Outside that window, events like losing job coverage, moving, marrying or having a baby may let you enroll. Those special enrollment periods have deadlines, so reach out soon after the change.

Will the plan include my doctors?

We find out before you pick. We search each plan's network and drug list for your doctors, hospitals and medications, and we tell you if anything is missing.

Is there help paying my premium?

That comes down to your expected income and family size. Plenty of Floridians are eligible for a tax credit on marketplace plans without realizing it. We work through the figures with you and explain how an income change mid-year would affect it.

Could I stay on my current plan?

In many cases, yes. Our review includes telling you when the plan you have already fits. When it does, we say that and stop there.

Can dental or vision be bought separately?

Yes. Lots of adult health plans leave out dental and vision. We can arrange dental insurance or vision insurance on its own, and we flag any dental waiting periods before you sign.

What does accident insurance do?

After a covered injury, such as a broken bone or an ER trip after a fall, accident insurance pays you cash. You can use it for your deductible and bills your health plan won't pay. It isn't a substitute for major medical coverage, and we'll be honest if it doesn't make sense for you.

Find Out What Your Coverage Really Does

Bring your current plan or just your questions. We will look it over, tell you what we see and show you options side by side, at no cost to you.
